FAQ

1.) The images look too dark or contrasty

You won’t be able to see the images on this website properly and as intended, if your monitor is not at least half-way adjusted for contrast and brightness.

Fortunately there are a bunch of adjustment websites out you can use to get a half-way correct display of the grey values. Color is another beast, but I won’t cover that here, since proper color calibration is not for the average user and you might just stick with your monitor defaults here.

These links might help you with a simple quick and dirty monitor adjustment:

2.) Images taking forever to load?

Every image on this website can be clicked to get the full resolution version (usually 1600 px wide). These are quite big and can take some time to load. Therefore, for the folks with slow internet connections,  I implemented two links in the lower right of every virtual canvas shown: [L] for low resolution (500 px) wide and [M] for medium resolution (1000 px wide).

Just try out which of the three possibilities work best for you. Usually the links open an overlay which allows you to click through a whole series of related images. This series will stay within the resolution you have chosen: Full (you clicked the image), medium (you clicked [M]) or low (you clicked  [L]).

If you want to change the resolution, be it for better speed or image quality, just close the overlay and click the link according to the new desired resolution to get it changed.
